Felix Mensah Named MASCAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College freshman Felix Mensah has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Mensah, who hails from Lowell, Massachusetts, placed ninth in the 55-meter dash at the BU Terrier Invitational over the weekend with a personal best time of 6.58 seconds. He also posted a time of 22.89 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Mensah missed the BSC school marks in both events by 3/100 of a second.
Earlier this season, Mensah had quite the collegiate debut for the Bears as he set the BSC indoor records in both the 200-meter dash and the triple jump at the season-opening Jay Carissela Invitational (Northeastern) back in December. He recorded a leap of 42 feet 11.5 inches in the triple jump, eclipsing Matt Deininger's 2006 mark of 42 feet 8 inches. Mensah also posted a record-setting time of 22.86 seconds in the 200.
Mensah has already qualified in both the 55 and 200 events for the Division III New England Championships, the ECAC Division III Championships as well as the NEIAAA Championships. He is also very close to provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in the 55. The provisional qualifying time for the national meet is 6.47 seconds.
